An accountant who cares

Have you ever heard the one about the social worker who became a CPA? It goes a little something like this. After earning a Bachelor of Social Work and a Masters in Childhood Development from Ryerson University, I spent over a decade working with children with complex special needs and their families. While I genuinely loved the work and building such important relationships with my clients and their families, it just didn't feel like it was what I was meant to do for the rest of my life.

I started to explore different career paths that might be suitable for my personality and skill set and was shocked when the results of several career aptitude tests resulted in accounting. Still, I was intrigued, and I thought to myself “well my father is a CPA, and his father was a CPA and his father’s father was a CPA so maybe it’s genetic”. I started my accounting education at York University and found a level of success in learning that I had never experienced before. Turns out it really is genetic!

Since then, I completed my CPA designation and began working at a large public accounting firm in 2015. My time working there provided me with the opportunity to work with many different clients in numerous industries and I began to realize that building a strong client relationship was no different than building relationships with the families I used to work with. It is done by being a good listener who can assess their clients' needs and objectives, and working with them collaboratively to achieve those results.

Building strong client relationships is the cornerstone on which I base my personal practice today and I look forward to working with you to address your personal and professional accounting needs.
